User experience transformation

We've been working with VoucherCodes.co.uk on an ongoing basis, delivering a program of user experience transformation that embeds user-centred design into everything they do.

The challenge

After carrying out some tactical user research projects with VoucherCodes.co.uk, it was clear they'd benefit from a longer-term solution. The business is always looking at new ways to improve the user-experience of their products but, following rapid growth, their various approaches had become disintegrated.

The main objectives were to:

  • Embed user-centred design into all product development processes
  • Help establish new processes to ensure siloed departments work together to provide the best possible experience for customers
  • Enable staff to carry out day-to-day user experience tasks themselves

Webcredible very quickly understood our organisation, working with key stakeholders to embed UX into our design processes. Having them on-site was invaluable for upskilling, bringing teams together and helping define a UX strategy.

Our approach

We knew we wouldn't be able to impact the organisation quickly or effectively by commanding from the outside. We based ourselves on-site on a weekly basis, so that we could:

  • Build up relationships with key stakeholders
  • Fully understand the business and its culture
  • Embed ourselves within the organisation and become an extension of various internal teams
  • Gain incredibly detailed insights into the business strategy and customers

After a 2-week requirements gathering process, we developed a robust action plan of work, to be continually iterated throughout our engagement. The plan was stored in the cloud for anyone to access and modify accordingly.

Each of our activities was placed into one of the following categories:

  • User experience strategy – User research and stakeholder engagement activities designed to achieve on longer term business goals
  • Training – Skills gaps that needed filling & required areas of development for individuals and teams
  • Optimisation – Tactics to increase conversions within and across existing digital channels (desktop web, mobile web, mobile app)
  • User-centred design – New product creation with business requirements and user needs at the core
