We had an amazing day last Thursday hosting our very first Webcredible intern design jam. We whittled down over 120 applicants to just 8 talented and lucky UXers. We had people from a range of backgrounds: graphic design, UX/UI, mechanical engineering, advertising and photography, which made for some really interesting teams on the day!
The design jam was a great opportunity for us to suss out the next Webcredibles to be in our new 3 month internship programme. We also wanted to share the UX love and give our attendees a chance to practise their skills and learn from our experienced consultants.
The design jam was a great opportunity for us to suss out the next Webcredibles.
Well after an early start, with some chatting and tasty breakfast, we kick-started our design challenge for the day. We won't tell you what the challenge was, but it involved 2 teams getting stuck into the full range of user-centred design activities. The teams headed out to a famous location in the morning to do some field research before returning to download insights and brainstorm ideas.
Over some delicious pizza from Basilico at lunch, we chatted about the many benefits of working for Webcredible, including our training programme, unlimited paid holiday, the wellbeing fund, staff lunches and much more!
In the afternoon we went through some design exercises to turn some of the great ideas into real solutions. At the end all 8 of our attendees presented back some amazing solutions to some real user problems. To say we were impressed was an understatement!
We then kicked back with a beer or two and chatted about UX and how the day had gone
We had a fantastic day and will definitely be running this kind of event again. We'd really like to thank everyone who took part, you did an amazing job on the day. It was one hell of a challenge for the judges to pick a winner, but we have hired two talented interns to join the team over the summer. We also offered the runners up a free training course from our amazing training academy.
So keep your eyes peeled for next year!
