Analytics can provide a wealth of information to help guide a business and its marketing. It's important to know how to interpret your data to get real insights into how users are using your site.

Our course will provide you with the necessary tools and skills to get the most out of your analytics packages. During the course you will:

  • Make the most of website data to improve online performance
    Data can help you understand exactly how users are behaving on your website, so is really important to businesses success. We'll look at all the programmes currently gathering data on your website, see which are useful and which can potentially be removed
  • Use data insight to inform digital strategy and planning
    It's easy to get muddled in the detail with data, so we'll make sure you learn how to plan your research effectively. We'll show you how to create a reporting structure based on business objectives, website goals and KPIs
  • Devise how to best communicate data findings
    We'll show you how to effectively hold meetings and communicate with key stakeholders, based around what customers are trying to accomplish when they visit your site
  • Understand reports you can prepare to show patterns and trends
    Once you have a clear idea of objectives, we'll look at how to track KPIs using tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Google Sheets and Google Data Studio. You'll be able to answer key questions such as what content you should be producing and whether other marketing activity is leading to greater conversions
  • Learn how to identify the most successful content
    Content remains a key element in making your website successful so we'll help you understand what users want from your site, what existing content is working and what new content you might need to create
  • Set up analytics packages to measure results
    We'll look at how you can ensure your analytics package is set up correctly for your site to deliver accurate results (most analytics packages aren't correctly set up)

We encourage you to use your own analytics account so you can apply concepts you're learning to actual data. If you don't have access then we can provide you with an account and data to work with.

We use Google Analytics on the course but what we teach can be applied to most other packages (e.g. Adobe Analytics).

Meet Emma Haslam, your trainer

Emma’s been in digital marketing since 2000 and has worked with both agencies and clients across a wide range of marketing channels and industry sectors. Emma understands the crucial role analytics plays in the commercial decisions businesses of all sizes have to make. Clients have included British Airways, Intel and Newsflare. Emma’s main focus is to help clients marry a good understanding of their customers’ behaviour with maximising revenue through data. There are so many ways customers interact with brands these days and she sees analytics as the most effective and immediate way to get an accurate picture of what they’re saying. Emma is Google Analytics IQ certified.

Emma loves all kinds of sports and was a Games Maker at the London Olympics and Paralympics. She also plays guitar, enjoys cooking and is an investor with Lendwithcare.org, helping entrepreneurs in the developing world.

About the day

Duration

Courses start at 10am and finish at 4.30-5pm.

Food

Breakfast, lunch and cakes, all from the amazing PAUL's bakery plus as much fresh coffee, tea, soft drinks and fruit as you like. Oh, and unlimited Prosecco at the end of the day.

Class size

No more than 10 participants - enough so you have other people to learn from but not too many that you're lost in the crowd.

What to bring

As well as your lovely self, you'll need a laptop and charger. Once you've booked, let us know if you don't have a laptop and we can lend you one of ours.
