User research provides essential insights into any aspect of your business and digital presence – both existing and in the future. This course will equip you with a toolkit to use in your own organisation straightaway.

You'll learn how discovery and research fit in to a user-centred design (UCD) process, all with an expert practitioner who conducts user research on a daily basis and using real world examples.

During the training course you'll learn how to:

  • Choose the appropriate type of research
    Learn the strengths and weaknesses of each method, which ones are suitable for your projects and in which order to conduct them
  • Gather and make sense of business and user needs
    Ensure you take both into account for the best possible solutions
  • Plan your research
    We'll advise on how to build the case for research to stakeholders and use your resources to get the most value
  • Conduct interviews and gather data
    Through hands-on exercises, you'll practice one of the most common and effective research techniques
  • Analyse data
    Carry out all the different analysis techniques
  • Turn analysis into actionable recommendations
    Learn how to make sense of all the data you've gathered and use it to drive solutions
  • Communicate your findings
    Get tips on presenting to stakeholders and putting together different types of research deliverables

Our user research course is particularly suitable if you are:

  • Aiming to reinforce your existing skills with research techniques that you can start using straight away
  • A business analyst or IT professional involved in requirements gathering and want to develop your research skills

You don't need any previous knowledge or practical experience of user research to attend.

Our user research course teaches you about the first stage of the UCD process. We also run a usability testing course which teaches you how to run research when evaluating potential design solutions.

Meet Martha Bramley, one of your trainers

A UX heavyweight, Martha has 20 years’ digital experience across a huge variety of projects, platforms and sectors. She’s worked all across the world, running research and gaining invaluable understanding of people across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Her approach is holistic, considering not just the user experience research and design, but also aspects such as content, branding and the wider commercial context. From research and co-creation to design and usability testing, her approach is truly customer-centric and, of course, always aligned with business objectives.

Martha gets genuinely charged up by interacting with people during our training courses, and gets excited about communicating new insights and sharing knowledge.

Duration

Courses start at 10am and finish at 4.30-5pm.

Class size

No more than 10 participants - enough so you have other people to learn from but not too many that you're lost in the crowd.
